Banquet

I shot my oldest daughter's (center) Junior/Senior banquet photos earlier this month. This is a shot with two of her best friends. I even made her dress. Impressed???

tranquility

This is where I spend my mornings. I LOVE my patio. Ruth, we need you to send us some rain. We are 17" behind this spring and my grass is dead! When the grass is green, everything is much prettier.

Weaping flower

Here is a flower from my hostas, I actually really like this flower, settings: D40 M at 200mm f 5.6 1/640 iso 1600, I know I had the iso way to high, just contrasted and sharpen for web.

Helps if I add the Picture!!!

My baby's all growing up...

and leaving the nest! :( The baby bird is doing well, and seems to have 9 lives. These birds were smart nesting in our yard!! LOL We saved the bird, again, this time from our cat, not once, not twice, but 3 times!! LOL I don't think our cat would really know what to do with it...he's not the predatory type of kitty. (too spoiled and well fed) Although I'm sure he would do some damage. He was safe in our window well for a day and his parents would come down and feed him in the window well! Well, the baby is starting to fly. I picked him up and to put him in the front yard again, so he was out of the reach of the dog, and he got away from me and flew quite a ways away from me. He still couldn't keep up with mom and dad, but he is growing. I've become quite fond of him and don't want him to go! I'm also always worried about his safety! (can you tell I'm a mom??!) Anyways, here is probably one of the last pics of my baby...ISO 100, ss 1/60, f/4.0

At Last!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I haven't taken any images (except kids playing ball). I've been working in the yard to get everything finished. And, at last, I am done. This is one small piece in the back of the house. The rose bush is BEAUTIFUL right now. It has a bird's nest in it, so we may have eggs and babies soon. Shot this in Ap mode on F5, ISO 200, ss was at 4000 (it's bright out right now). I find that my camera really underexposes in AP mode, so I need to stick with manual.

My baby bird

Well, we knew our bird had babies...I could hear them when it was feeding time and she kicked one of the babies out of the nest. But I haven't ever been able to get a good shot of them....til today, that is. Not only was I photographer today, but I was also a bird rescuer. The baby is trying to stretch his winngs and get strong enough to fly, but he fell out of the tree. Luckily Brianna was playing outside and she saw the baby, picked it up and brought him to me. Scott came home a short time later and we ended up pulling the truck under the tree and putting the ladder in the bed of the truck to get him back into the nest. The first try was no good...the parents were both freaking out and took a swoop at us, and with all that happening, the baby jumped back outta the nest. I was able to calm him down again, and then it was easier to get him to stay in the nest. While I had the truck there, I thought I'd take advantage of the awesome angle I was at and got a couple of great shots of the baby, so here he is! :) Hopefully the parents don't abandon him after all that effort we put into saving him!! oppsss this picture was suppose to be in there!

crud put the wrong third picture in. I amaze myself sometimes...LOL here is the stairway going up into the rest of the house and it will be my sitting area to the left.

my Studio

Thought I would give everyone a sneek at my studio. I still have so much to do but I'm starting to bring everything down and put it away. Don't have setting cause I just used the on camera flash, put it on P and up'd it by two stops and still had to lighten it in RAW. Ahhh the miracle of RAW. Love it!!!

Lost tooth...

Well, Brianna lost another tooth today, along with the help of her Dad and a pair of pliers! She had had this loose tooth for some time now, and today it really started to bug her so she asked her Dad for some help. He got the pliers out and the tooth came out with no problems! Now if the tooth fairy remembers to leave some money for the tooth, we'll have one happy camper tomorrow! :) ISO 400, ss 1/80, f/3.5

Under the Tag?

Ruth, you don't even have to say it. Yes, I've been to the park again. My nephew was actually playing. This is shot through a fence, so I had my lens right up on the fence (with the hood on). He was called safe. What do you think?

our themes

Ok Ladies...let's get ready for themes. I suggest that we each come up with 7 themes and that will take us into our year for quite awhile. Post your 7 themes up here and that way we can see and don't duplicate. Once we have them all up here I'll go through and assign them out a month at a time so we have a heads up as to what will be coming. Then everyday that week you need to do something related to that theme.

So lets get them up in the next day or two.... I'll be thinking and post something later today.

:)

It's Monday

So whats the theme today? Well, I'm a little late for the animals but here's mine anyway, a horse on my father-in-laws farm, his name is Taz after Tazmanian Devil. PP is photoshop add some lighting effects and sharpened for web. Settings: D70 Manual at 50mm f 5.0 1/6400 iso 320

lockers are in!!!

Got the lockers in...as far as settings. My meter had me way overexpose this shot. I have to do some big time thinking and learning. Anyone got any ideas? I used the strobe and set it to exactly what it said to do.

Zoo Trip...

K, so we went to the Zoo yesterday and I forgot to post my pic yesterday so you'll get to see it today. We were watching the bird show when I was able to capture this owl flying over head. ISO 100, ss 1/400, f/3.5 ANd the second one is a pic of my little Lachlan that I took while waiting in line to see the white alligators...ISO 1600, ss 1/80, f/2.8

Is it theme days?

ok I noticed yesterday that everyone posted animals, is there something that I missed? Are we doing themes? Well, I don't know what the theme is today but I'm posting another flower, all of my flowers are starting to bloom and I wanted to capture them before they died so here's another flower. Just color pop and sharpened, settings: used my D40 at 60mm f4.5 1/1000 iso 800

salem

ok call me a hog...but I missed yesterday and that was my first miss. I found an unsuspecting model so I had to take the moment and go for it. iso 100 ss125 f3.5

Ok I think I am on a 52 Photographs a year blog :)

Sorry for not posting as much as all you keeners but I have no good excuse other than "life" getting in my way hehe. Anyways here are some cute pugs I had the pleasure of shooting (that sounds bad) hehe.

Today was a turing day for my studio. I was finally able to pull out a background that is brand new that I got at WPPI in March. The floor is as done as I have patience for and I'm starting to put things back in. Bought my lockers last night so I'll be spray painting them this evening. iso400 (forgot to change it) ss125 f9.0

A boy and his worm...

Ok, so not my greatest work, but Byron found this worm and was really into it. I asked about his worm and he said that it was a Momma worm, not a boy worm (I had called the worm a 'he' so Byron was correcting me) and went on and on about his Momma worm. I suggested that we put it over by the Momma Bird so she can eat it and he's all no, I can't let the bird eat the Momma worm. It was quite funny how attached and proud he was of this worm. ISO 100, SS 1/80, f/stop 4.0. Oh the next pic is of our Momma bird. Well we now have babies, so I guess she's been there longer than I thought. I haven't seen the babies but I have heard them and we found a baby bird under the nest. I don't know if the baby fell out or was kicked out, but the kids were sad. I'm hoping to get a shot of her feeding the babies when they get a little bigger. ISO 100, ss /100, f/stop 5.6
