wanted to try my new fill light

A few months back I bought two boom arms, two britek lights, and two mini apollo softboxes. I use one as a hair light and the other I just never got up. I finally got it all set up and took a test shot of my son. He needed to move more forward as there is a shadow over his right shoulder down his arm. But this was just a test. I shot the main at 8.0 and the fill at 5.0. I think I like more shadowing so I may bring the fill down slightly. No posing... all attitude. LOL

{Baby Gerbil}

First off - WELCOME to the new bloggers!!

This is one of the three babies that Stewart & Shadow had on Thanksgiving...I am looking for new homes for the 3 because 5 gerbils is too many for me, plus they have out lived their cuteness and have moved on to stinky because they help filth up the cage faster and faster everyday...*sigh* lol

The kids love them though, I do too. Sam asked me if I would call the 2 white babies "Stewart 2 & 3" and the black baby "Shadow 2" because he didn't want to remember any other names...how cute is that!

I promised I wouldn't

post a picture from our weekend. But I played with this one so much that it is pretty far out there. Just playing. Forgive me T.

Our group may grow :)

I've invited a few photography friends from the forum that I belong."T", Denise, and Julie. Please welcome them. There are no themes or anything. Tried that! LOL But we are suppose to post a picture every day and we can comment on it. I don't want this to be a cc blog, but a place where you can post images from your sessions or things you are working on.

It would be nice to post your settings too, so that we can learn from you. BUT, I've been really bad with that for a really long time. Arya is really good at that!! So T...just jump in a post a picture and post one a day and don't worry if you don't get cc because this is just for fun and to keep us clicking the shutter...

You know Cindy from noBS gurlzrock.... Arya and Meg also post the others are slackers... And Meg has beena slacker lately... I"m going to have to go over to her blog and spank her.... LOL

Let it begin - Volleyball, that is

Yesterday was my daughter's first club tournament. She's playing power this year, so it is a higher level of play and she is loving it. The team didn't perform well, but it was a great learning experience for them all. I took the D700 and the 70-200 and gave it (and my shoulders) a great workout. It is such a fantastic combination! Here are a couple of images of her that I love. She hates that she does the Michael Jordan leg spread when she hits, but the girl has some serious verticle jump capabilities. She's only 5'3", but look at my baby get over that net for a block! (yep, a bit proud)

Woodard Family Pics

I had someone who wanted family pics outdoors. I thought they'd want to wait until things were blooming again, but that wasn't the case. Thankfully, the day we chose was relatively warm. Here are a couple from the shoot. I've already warmed them up, but I'm thinking the kids' pics need to be warmer. What do you guys think?

Sandy Puc

I just got back from PPA in Phoenix and got a mini lesson with Sandy Puc. I was in the front row and got this picture of her. Seriously I learned so much I can't wait to get shooting again.

I'm baaaaaaaacccckkkk

I just got back from the PPA conference in Arizona and it was great. I learned a lot about marketing and some good ideas to grow your business, bought new toys and learned about keeping the attention of children during a shoot. I'm super charged to get my studio cleaned up and ready for the new year.... I'll be starting to post images again now. Volleyball is starting to get back to normal. Actually by the end of the month I'll be back 100% Whew!! Thanks for y'alls patience....

Studio ??? haha

I had a friend need a business portrait for an award announcement in his company's newsletter. I set up my flash in a shoot thru umbrella to camera left and a silver reflector to the right with two lights on the background. Unfortunately the background lights weren't high enough (too lazy to get stands out of car). Other than that, any CC on lighting? Do you think the umbrella was high enough? Too high? etc...

It has been so long.........

I enjoyed looking @ everyone's work on here, I haven't posted in forever I'M SORRY MA!!!!!!!! I come today to ask for everyone's help. God has laid something heavy on my heart and I need to tell everyone I know about it........Ruth I hope you don't mind.......I know it's not picture related please forgiveme!!!

Here is the story:

On May 4, 1990 I attended a party along with a lot of the teenagers from my small hometown of New Waterford, Cape Breton-Nova Scotia. This party was held at the end of town in outdoor location what we kids called the nest. It was 4 days before my 15th birthday and I thought the worst thing that could happen would be the place would be raided (which it was), I would be taken off to jail, my parents would come bail me out (wanting to beat me from the police station all the way home). I wish that is how it turned out only it didn’t, it was much worse. That horrible night in May turned out to be the last night for a 17 year old boy named Clayton Miller.

Clayton was beaten (its obvious from the morgue photos) and murdered and then the whole thing was covered up. Still to this day his parents Maureen and Gervy Miller have no answers, have no justice and Clayton’s life is being treated as if it didn’t matter. LIFE matters, Clayton was a son, a brother, a nephew, a cousin and a friend and he was also a child of God! His life MATTERED and I’m asking that each and every one of you go and read his story and please SIGN HIS PETITION for JUSTICE! It has been 19 years of authorities, Politian’s, media and whoever else sweeping this young man’s life under a rug.....ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Life is precious, Clayton’s life was not a number, his 17 years on this earth meant something to every person that knew him and his story is touching many people who didn’t even know him. Please help me, in helping the Miller Family fight for justice for their ONLY SON! I couldn’t imagine if I lost one of my children let alone lose one with no answers and nobody seeming to care. Please take a few minutes of your time, read his story if you like, sign his petition and HELP ME to HELP THE MILLERS show those cowards responsible that CLAYTON’S LIFE MATTERED!

God Bless you all!

You can check out Clayton’s story here:

You can sign the petition HERE:
http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/clayton-miller-petition-for-justice.html

There is also a Facebook group for Clayton, just search for “Justice for Clayton Miller”

Thank you to everyone who reads about Clayton, see’s the injustice and SIGNS for justice to be served.

First Wedding of the Year

These are a couple of images from my first wedding of 09. We had a forecast of 60 degrees and no rain, so we had hoped to do a lot of images outside. However, the wedding took place on the top of a mountain at a lodge and it was too foggy to see outside! The pic of the kiss was during a game of "kiss tag." An idea I got from calgal on the NoBS forum. You have one of the couple try to kiss the other, and the other tries to avoid the kiss. Makes for some rather unusual images.

{From outside}

This was taken a few days ago about a mile or so from where I live. It was a perfect day to get this type of shot...I just love the clouds in the sky!

{bear bear}

Photobucket

She just loves this bear...

and it snowed again last night

I'm stuck in a rut and it is called cold and dark. I'm so glad that I will be jetting off to Phoenix this weekend for the PPA conference. I know I will come back jazzed and ready to go. I need this.

how we spent our winter break

We never get snow like this in the Northwest. We literally couldn't go anywhere or do anything. The boys went out and made an 8ft snowman. It was so heavy it only lasted a day before it toppled but it was beautiful!!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year!

This was our living room on Christmas Eve.....hope you all had a wonderful Jesus' birthday :)
