Hope I am not too late. Denver is the site of the Annual National Western Stock Show. It has animal shows, Rodeo, Pro Bull Riding, Petting Zoos, lots of stuff to do. My husband and I tried out some Sports Photography, to bad our seats were kind of in the nosebleeds, so my 30mm 1.4 only took pictures of little dots so we had to go to the 3.5-5.6 zoom with speedlight, next year we will get closer. Most were iso 800, ss200, f5.6 with speedlight at +2-3 ev.

Wow, I want to live where you are! I LOVE rodeos and cowboys! Was your flash effective from where you were sitting?
Amazingly it was. You could actually see some of the catchlights in the horse's eyes in several of my photos.
