another fairy session done

You can see her session at www.myproofs.org her book is Fairy Tiana and her password is Fairy. Now I can get ready for my volleyball pictures for Thursday night.

Going to try posting :)

Hey ladies sorry I haven't been posting for a long long time but I am going to try and get back too it. Sorry I don't know the theme so Ruth pls point me in the right direction. I don't know a lot of you so I thought I would just say HI TO EVERYONE :) I'm Tesa and I live in FREEZING ARSE Alberta, Canada and if you think its cold where you are ITS NOT! It got to a deep freeze of -69 with the windchill here.......so seriously unless you have lived for a day in it you don't KNOW COLD PEOPLE! haha :P

I don't do any sessions in this freezing crap weather, I mean my camera would prob die anyhoo lol. I don't do studio work so I rely on mother nature as my backdrop and she ain't working with me so far this month but ohh well I do have a real job too. I work with people with disabilities and if that aint enough I have 3 kids (Kelsi 12, Kendall 10 and a son who just turned 3 in dec) to keep me busy along with my husband who 99% of the time acts like hes 4 so life is busy :) ohhh can't forget the pets........rottie named Rambo, Cat named Dolly and our new addition a lil baby pug named Raskal!

Anyhoo I was going to post a pic but it wont let me........I will try again tomorrow :)
Have a great week ladies, the job calls......

Arya called

The surgery went much better than the doctors thought. I'm sure she will weigh in with us soon and give the details. Hopefully if the weather permits she is coming up tonight and bringing her kiddos. We are going to take fariy pictures of her little Ruthie..... I'll post one for sure!

More Basketball

And on a personal note...the woman in the background, between the 2 boys heads, is the Exeter player's mother.... I love that I got her watching!

I'm finishing her tonight!

I stink at Studio Work

Okay, I borrowed a baby today to play with high key lighting. Needless to say, I have a LONG way to go. I needed to light the backdrop more than I did, so it ended up gray. I got some cute images, unfortunately, I'm disappointed in my lighting. I'm glad this wasn't a paying session. Any CC would be appreciated.

Soccer (from last fall)

My ds plays goalie so I don't have too many "action" shots of him.

Surgery today

Please keep Arya's husband, William, in your prayers today. He goes in for brain surgery. Arya said she would call me so I'll keep you all posted.

This is a Sport Ruth!

....tho not nearly as cute as your pics, at least it's of our boy(Wilson). Always nice to get a shot of my own child...and who says white guys can't jump?

is this sporty? Nah didn't think so! LOL

Still have lots to learn but I"m having fun learning, that's for sure!!!

flower girl

This is just a shot I grabbed Friday night of the flower girl. She wanted no part of the wedding. Her parents actually left her with me and went to sit at the front of the church. Then, when it was her turn to walk down the aisle, her dad scooted out into the aisle and held out a horse he had gotten to bribe her. They had rolled out white for the wedding party to walk on, she wouldn't. She walked beside it all the way down, but when she got to her father, he was on the other side. She actully debated stepping across, but the horse finally won her over.

Sports

This week's challenge is sports. It can be action shots, players, equipment, etc. Anything sports related. Now, if you are desperate, you can post an older image. But let's try and get the cameras out and take at least one challenge related image this week!

Water

I finally got to do the water shot that I wanted. I made them into a collage. I had to add the pic in the middle even though it doesn't have water, it was just too cute not to. Thanks to Arya for them template, they all rock!!!

Quick Play

Here is my quick play, I added the lens flare to add some "power" for her levatation. It was quick, to the erasing wasn't as good as it should be.

over water

ok she is flying over water!! Everyone I have a favor to ask of you. I would like to seewhat kind of crop you can come up with. I've done several and I don't know which one I like best. So I kept this at 300 dpi so you can put it on your computer. let's see what you all can come up with!! Thanks for helping me.

Water??

I'm standing in front of the basin of holy water, does that count? This is a ceremony shot I grabbed with my new fisheye lens during today's wedding.

Blog Hog

...in my continuing effort to prove that I have NO life...here's one more water shot. This is a walkway in our backyard.

Snow is Water....

...correct? So here's another of my 'just outside of town' shots....snow and orange trees (actually not a good mix but fortunately the freezing weather was confined to the hills:).

Water and My Hometown

We got snow up in the foothills yesterday, and lots of rain....which we LOVE around here!
(just ask Kim, we get lots of fog...not so much rain).

A Fish...in Water

Ok, this was a picture I took a while ago, but I have two kids with the Flu, and not the stomach one, despite having the flu shot. So needless to say I will probably not get to do what I really wanted, but maybe they will get better for the weekend. But this picture should work. This is our blue fish named Purple, can you tell I have a three year old? Iso 800, F 5.3, ss 40.

My Daughter is the BEST!

Yeah, I know half her face is cut off (dang 85mm lens, I didn't get back far enuf) ...but I thought her smile still told the story....and it's the water that counts...right?

Used flash, ISO1000 (just got home from basketball, forgot to change it :) ss160, f6.3 (had to get a larger DOF to make up for the fact that I could only focus on what the neighbors porch light was illuminating...then I just had to hope she was in the plane of focus).

Plus we were quite a sight here...I was standing in the street with my husband holding the umbrella so my camera wouldn't get wet!

{I've been MIA for awhile}

I wanted to apologize to everyone for not posting as much lately. I don't know how many of you know but my husband is having brain surgery on this next monday and it's super scary for me...there are a lot of bad outcomes and the percentages are the same as if he makes it thru. We do know that if all goes well he will have brain damage, just not sure what type or how it will manifest itself. We do know that if he doesn't get the surgery it's a death sentence (ticking time bomb waiting to go off is what the doctor said). Lovely right? and to top it off my MIL was supposed to watch the kids and decided it wasn't convenient for her and so now the kids are coming with us and will miss 10 days of school as a result. (all the details are on my blogger blog)

Just thought I would let you all know that I haven't dropped off the planet of flaked out on you all but just have a lot on my plate right now and haven't had lots of time to pick up my camera. If all goes well I will be back and posting shortly after Feb. 7th.

Thank you all for your wonderful posts and keep it up!

Yep its water!

This was alot harder than I expected. I needed plenty of light to use high ss, but my sync speed is 250 at the highest. With the ss of 500 I had a large black gradient band in the top of the frame from the shutter speed being to fast, so I had to crop that out. It took me 3 gb of memory to get the look I was going for, with only one image that was a keeper!

they drink a lot of water

Here is my template for the volleyball teams. I couldn't find one with the colors I needed so I had to make my own.

Basketball this week

Does sweat count as water? (thanks for the idea Cindy, I bet we can find water in just about anything :)

New Lens -Fisheye

I finally have the last lens on my list of "I Wants" the 10.5 2.8 fisheye. This lens has a 180 degree field of view - so cool. I hope to be able to take a couple this weekend at my wedding. If I get any, I'll be sure to share. Hey, do these clouds count as water? Isn't that a great sky.

My Town

Hope I am not too late. Denver is the site of the Annual National Western Stock Show. It has animal shows, Rodeo, Pro Bull Riding, Petting Zoos, lots of stuff to do. My husband and I tried out some Sports Photography, to bad our seats were kind of in the nosebleeds, so my 30mm 1.4 only took pictures of little dots so we had to go to the 3.5-5.6 zoom with speedlight, next year we will get closer. Most were iso 800, ss200, f5.6 with speedlight at +2-3 ev.

Week 4 Challenge - Water

Okay, let's see what we can do with water in the dead of winter. Let's see some freezing of action, blurring, etc as well as your amazing creative aspect of capturing water.

one rosy young lady

I'm almost done proofing this session and thought I would share one with her Big Bear. I will be finished tomorrow and then 7 more sessions to go...Whew! I'm off to see Atonement with my cabanaboy. Nite all!

{Stewart}

So here is the little boy gerbil - STEWART. The gerbils are just so much fun to watch. They are not as messy as I thought they would be and there is no smell - which is sooo nice.

Downtown

I love the old part of Huntsville. This is one block on the courthouse square.

3rd session

I've got a lot of work cut out for me. This was from my third session from today. So I've done 3 days worth ok???? LOL I've been so lucky to get such beautiful girls for these sessions.

my 2nd session today

Now I'm just bragging...LOL Isn't she beautiful?

my latest fairy

ok here is one from my morning session. I just grabbed it. I don't even know if is the best or worst shot. I just loved her mom's hand in the picture. (I know it isn't technically correct.. poohy) it is her moms' hand and shows a connection that they have. She is so sweet with her daughter. It was a great session

Where I live

Taken outside, don't you hate the dead grass? My youngest out front with her Vanna White attitude.

An old Rusty Staircase...

...with a senior sitting on it! Found the stairs behind one of the shops here in town, it's going to see a lot of action (photographically speaking :)

with castle added

What do you think? I thought I could add the castle when NOT doing faires but doing midevil stuff. I've some of those costums too and would like to do them as well. I've got two fairy sessions today and I'll post one from each but I won't get to proofing them for a bit because I've got past session to finish up. iso 100 ss125 f4.0...think I want to go to 5.6 though.

My latest project

Okay, I spent a couple of hours yesterday making myself a "shootsac". I HATED sewing on the neoprene, but that is an issue between me and my machine. The bag is super easy as far as a pattern. I only wanted three pockets, so I limited mine to three, rather than 6. I did make my cover replaceable (velcro) so I can have multiple looks, if I choose. I'm very pleased with it! Again, the only issue would be that my machine hates the thickness of the double layers of neoprene.

I'll also say I HATE to have pictures made of myself, but I did let Jessica take this one so you can see the bag in use. (ha, but I didn't have lenses in it yet) I WILL lose weight this year!

Red Door in Town...

Ok...technically this IS one of the towns many brick alleyways with cool doors....also happens to be what I am working on today. (and I can't decide which one I like best ...obviously :)

The Churches of My Town!

The first one is the bell tower from my church. I wanted a full image but there is no real good vantage point to get all of the church in the image without a wide angel lens, this church is huge.
This is the Catholic Church across the street. I hope you don't mind this is from last spring.
This was taken right before sunset and the sky was a gorgeous winter blue!

my work town

The first one is from the roof of city hall looking out at the bus station and the second ones are some steps. duh!!! I can't take of picture of MY town because I leave in the dark and return in the dark. :)

A pic of the Family

This is a picture that I took when I was first starting out last year. I used Tara's Chocolate conversion. This was about one week before I had my Lizzy. My husband has a really hard time keeping his eyes open to flash (yes, his eyes are open) so this has no flash f5.6 ss 1/500th, only the sun on a hazy day, with a white sheet hung on the fence behind us. We will take another picture once it warms up this spring (it is only 15 degrees outside today, yuck!!!) Courtney, I borrowed your idea for the brush.

My daughter and her beau

Ok I haven't been posting and need to get it together. I really have not been doing any photographing. This was done of my Hillary and her boyfriend durning winter break. Isn't it weird how totally different their skin color is? Anyway that is all I have for now. I am having session withdrawles!

Another weird one...

... I was asked by my sister-in-law to shoot jewelry for her new website...eek! I've never shot product before but I'm going to give it a go. The hardest part is getting the lighting correct. I have 2 spotlights (ok, they're my son's desk lamps) on both sides and a white poster board behind, trying to get rid of any shadows. I'm also amazed at the shallow DOF unless I close down the aperture (you all probably knew that :) This is one of her older pieces, made before she even thought of selling her stuff; I have to drive to the coast to do the actual job. She is an amazingly talented artist with some beautiful jewelry....which I can't even afford (she did say she would give me something for taking the pics...yea!!!)

Special thanks to Tesa for giving me some hints on how to do this (and lots of encouragement!). I hope to be posting the final (and much improved) photos in a couple weeks!

ISO 640, ss60, f10....I know I am going to need to get a tripod so I can get the ISO down - then I can lower the shutter speed to compensate for lower light.

ps. I deleted the first photo I put up here...it was too orange.
