still working on Kelsey

I'm about 1/2 way done.

Maternity Model

I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous momma-to-be and her boyfriend, who is an amateur photographer that I have been mentoring. He brought his camera over and we both posed her and were able to get some great shots. I wish all of my maternity clients were as laid back and willing as she was. There are a couple more on my blog but this is my favorite so far.

almost done with Marissa

I was really happy with this session. I hope they like them too.

Latest Newborn

During our vacation downtime, I've been working on images from my latest newborn session. Here is my favorite image from that session. (Makes me wish I had Ruth's sets.)

Smokey Mountain Vacation

We drove through Cades Cove yesterday and stopped at a couple locations and took pictures. I'm disappointed with my faulty focus on this image, but I still like it.

Water Balloon Explosion!

This is our youth minister....getting drenched by the teen helpers and being a very good sport about it :)

Marissa

what great images have been posted! I really wish we would warm up a tad so I could get some cool shots. Summer has only come for a week or two here. Still pretty cold. This is from my session last night.

Up in the Mountains

We are spending the week in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. We are on the top of the mountain in a chain of cabins. We had some amazing storms yesterday so I grabbed my camera with the fisheye and tried to get the rainbow. Handheld, so not 100% sharp, but I think I got a decent capture.

Long time no see...

Sorry it has been a long time since I have posted any pictures... A lot has happened since then. I got a flash...YAAY! I got new business cards..YAAY! And I have a blog in my name so people don't have keep asking me for a portfolio. YAAY!! the blog is katejohnsonphotography.blogspot.com Any way I have been really busy with work and photography. I have some one that would like me to do engagements, bridals and the wedding. Which I am really nervous about but it will be fun. Later!

Another Nebraska Image

I have a few fun scenic farm images so I'll add one a day. This one is on my business blog also.
This one was taken near the Kansas/Nebraska border so it technically is a Kansas image! I loved the big storm clouds rolling in.

Nebraska Barn

I love Nebraska and the fact that you can drive in any rural area and see these great old barns. I don't love the fact that it seems all the great old barns are being neglected and in their place, new metal outbuildings are going up. I have been thinking of starting a project to photograph all the old barns and sheds in my area. It should be fun searching all the back roads and old farms.

Still trying to catch up

With having another full time job it is hard to stay caught up but I wanted to show you a few images from the fair that I did this weekend. I think it was worth it. I booked two seniors and talked to about 20. We shot about 20 kids and I made a ton of contacts. I was pleased but it was way too hot for me and we all just felt dehydrated and the heat wasn't the best for my prints. I'm not sure if I will do it next year. I think I need to be inside.

I'm back!!!

What a weekend! It was hot and sweaty and did I say hot? I'll report more tonight and post a few images.... just wanted to pop in and say hi.

Here are a few from the Wedding on Saturday. It was fun, but nerve racking. I think after I do a few it will be better (nerves that is, hopefully photos too). I have been doing more off camera flash work, here are a couple of my favorites.

One from my wheat field sessions

Sorry I haven't been around, I've been on vacation. Here is one from my sessions before I left. I wasn't expecting to have any wheat fields left when I came back but was surprised to see they haven't been able to cut due to the weather. I now get a chance to do a few more family sessions this week, good for me not so much for the farmers.

self portrait

this was taken with my webcam on my imac - I think it's my best self portrait yet.

From my session tonight

I know we are not supposed to post more then once per day but I am a little behind in my posting so I hope it's ok.

This is from my session tonight and this little man just kept me running like crazy - he loved monkey's so I asked him if he could see the monkey in my camera lens - I do have one image of him trying to touch my lens to get the monkey out...It was a fun session.

Do you think the color is over the top? (cause you know I am afraid of color and love b&w all the way! trying to step outside my comfort zone for color)

Higher Iso's

This was taken using a high ISO. I didn't feel like pulling out my flash, so I just used the available light.

ILP get together

Do you see the chimpers in the background? lol I wish I hadn't cut off Ruth's foot but she was moving fast and I had to take advantage and forgo the foot I guess.

Settings: ISO:200 AP: f/3.2 SS: 1/100

Ok, so I've been gone awhile....

...at least I'm posting a photo :)

This is one from our garden (green bean vines) out to the just-put-up pool (it's 110 today, so it's none too soon!)

Happy Summer!

ILP meet up today

I helped push for a meet-up for some of the local ILP'ers here in my area. It's going to happen later today and I can't wait to meet everyone. I will post some pictures after its all said and done later this evening. If this one goes well I will try and put another one together for next month.

Just wanted to share my excitement!

First Wedding

Wish me luck, we are shooting our first wedding tomorrow. Tonight we take pictures at the Rehersal for a warm-up. My DH will be my Second Shooter/Assistant. I am so nervous, but I have a list on flash cards of all the pictures, we hopefully have our timing down. I will post pictures next week.

the fair

wish me luck everyone. The fair I've been getting ready for, for 3 months is this weekend. I'm worn out from the getting ready part. Tammy is coming up from Portland and Katie is flying in from Utah so us three will be manning the booth. Say some prayers for us! :)

Still Alive

Sorry I've not been participating lately. I've spent two weeks at camp with the girls and now I'm back home and ready to join back in. I did newborn pics from my first bride and groom yesterday. Here is a page I designed for the album. Got the idea from the latest Photovision DVD.
