This was taken last month - I have been busy dealing with a death in the family and haven't been able to pick up my camera - so I hope you all don't mind that this wasn't taken today. It's of my daughter and I was standing above her on a really tall bar stool and she was looking up at me - see my toes..lol

Blog hog!

Well, since there are others that are NOT posting.... hmmmm and we all know who you all are! LOL

iso 100 f8.0 on main f5.6 on fill ss125. I'm so tired!! But I'm having the time of my life. I've got so much proofing to do.....

HUGE Weding Party

I was second shooter at a wedding on Saturday. The bride and groom both come of LARGE families and it seems they couldn't leave anyone out of the wedding party (can you tell?). I shot the ceremony from the balcony and let me say my new 70-200 VR lens ROCKS!!! This one I had to put on the 28-75 just to get everyone in the shot and it is still from the balcony!
ISO 500, SS 1/60, F 5.6, WB - Custom.
Hectic day, hard to get everyone in the image - but a lot of love in the building.

My baby boy

I finally got back around to taking some pics of my baby boy, so here's on that I turned into vintage black and white. Settings manual mode 85mm iso 1600 f2.5 1/160

my session tonight

This is just the first image I opened to. This session rocked if I do say so myself. hehehehhe

iso 100 f9.0 ss125. My lighting instructor gave me some private lessons tonight and told me I have to start thing outside the box. But I feel so good in the box!!!

Glamor Party

Here is just the first one I looked at. I zoomed in so that I could play with some sparkles. It was a lot of fun. Getting ready for my session this evening. I'll post something from it later. iso 100 light meter at iso 125 f8.0 ss 125.

Cheer

Isn't she cute? Okay ladies, I did team pictures of football and then cheerleaders. By the time I got to the end it was dark and I was using flash. This is actually one of the better flash images. By the end it was completely dark out. Anyway, I know the grass is dying, but the colors still look so flat to me. I need to take some photoshop classes to learn how to fix it if I don't get it right in camera. Any suggestions on making this look better - without getting too funky for a sports team image?

This was taken today of this fun couple expecting their first baby. After doing the session and rushing home to get them edited and up in their gallery - horror filled me as not a single image was salvageable - malfunctioning lens - (*****BEEP*****) - and I called the couple hoping I could come back over and sure enough they were up for it and had new ideas when I arrived for the ReDo session. The mommy-to-be even found a tube top that matched the ribbon I had - how cool was that! lol Enjoy!

my wedding

I have so many pictures to go through. And I have a lot to learn about weddings. It is nothing like a portraits session!!! LOL anyway this one was using the fisheye lens at the beauty salon.

Looking at Great Grandpa

I took this earlier this month but I just love it and had to share it here. I was letting the camera do the white balance for me to see if it would do a better job with a lamp on behind my grandpa and natural light coming in from in front of them - because I was getting a hiddiously yellow/orange cast from the lamp - Auto wb did a great job in this situation but it really didn't matter - I turned em all into b&w anyways...lol

Shameless begging, avert your eyes....

OK, I have a BIG favor to ask, I was just looking at the list of themes and was wondering....could we possibly move 'panning shots' back a couple of weeks? I SO want to practice that technique, especially during football season, and I won't have my camera back for a few weeks.....sooooo what do you all think?

p.s. Pleeeeease!

My neice Maggie

I'm going to be without a camera (boo hoo) for a few weeks...it's in Irvine 'visiting' the Canon repair center, so I will be posting old pics (if I can find ones that fit the theme).

This is one of my adorable neice Maggie, she has gorgeous eyes but I think I need advice on getting them to pop even more. They just don't seem to have that sparkle that I see in so many of everyone elses photos. Help!

EYES of my Family

I took these today when I saw that I was a contributor (hope I spelled that right..lol). Enjoy!

***Edited to remove 5 of the images, forgot my head and the rules so here is my info, next time I will remember please forgive the many images - ISO was 200 and the lens I used was my 50mm 1.8 and my aperature was f/2.8 Shutterspeed varied from 1/250 to 1/750***

My eyes - it's hard to take a picture of yourself when holding the camera...lol

My Husband's eyes - coaxing him to get his picture taken is hard...

My oldest Son's eyes - He wasn't too into it and kept making faces....

My middle Son's eyes - He kept me laughing...

And last but not least my youngest daughter - She didn't want to open her eyes...

Stepping out...

I told Ruth I'd do this Sat I think, then life got busy again. Things have gotten so busy around here, I need to not have as much going on, so I've decided not to post on the blog along with a couple other sites. I love seeing the work going on here. This is a great group, very positive. But, I just don't have the time to post. My business is picking up in October (finally and hopefully consistently) and school is a little more involved than I remembered. LOL.

I will drop in once in a while to comment on some pics, so I won't be totally gone.

Here are some small eyes!

Sept 23- Sept 29 will be on "Exposure" with Nature Light

Sept 30 - Oct 6 will be "Still life" working on making a creative shot/angle

Oct 7 - Oct 13 will be "Old time photos" take a photo make it LOOK OLD in PS

Oct 14 - Oct 20 will be "Landscapes" working on color (LOTS LOTS OF COLOR)

Oct 21 - Oct 27 will be "Self portraits" working on just expressing who you are to all of us in your photos :)

Oct 28 - Nov 3 will be "Textures" working on macro/close-up

Nov 4 - Nov 10 will be working "panning shots"

I couldn't stand how blah it looked here so I went and bumped up the contrast. That is much better now......

Here is from my session today with my 5d. It is incredible. I haven't had a chance to look through these because I HAVE to get some orders in. On here 112 looks flat but in photoshop it is brillant gold. Hmmm wonder what that is all about. The rain cut us short.

new themes....

Eyes
Panning shots
Still life
Old time photos
Landscapes
Self portraits
Textures
Exposure

Tesa...Meg's turn is over so now it is your turn with the themes. These are the ones that Lindy suggested. Or you can go further back into the archives and see where you put yours and choose the next 6 or 7...... try to pair it up with... something like landscapes and exposure...or something like that. So go ahead and make us a schedule. And as always if you have a session you can post from that instead.

hehehehehehehehheheheh love ya Tesa!!

Themes??

Okay so I don't have a clue what starts today, anyone?

birthday boy!

My session today. Found out it was his first birthday so we HAD to make a little mess. The camera calibration went really well.... until I went to the hi-key then everything looked totally washed out on my LCD so I bumped it up to 11. I haven't really even looked at the pictures up close so I'll give a better report with I have more info.
Got my 5d today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In time for my senior tomorrow...yipppeeeeee

new senior

This is from my session today. Cindy I freaked a little and didn't do a calibration for this 85mm lens. I had done it for my 50mm in the studio. So I'll use that calibration tomorrow on my baby shoot. I was really nervous with this shoot because it was really dark outside and I had to use flash on all my images. I'm working hard on ambient with flash and I think I'm getting it but during a session my head always goes to mush! Thank goodness for moms cause they are my voice activated reflector stand.
On the top one I had my flash pointing into the reflector the mom was holding and had her stand by it and toss her hair. iso 400 f2.8 ss100 and the flash was on 1 stop down.
2nd image I had the mom 45 degrees to my right with the flash again going into the reflector. iso 200 f4.0 ss 125.
Mush brain here forgot her tripod!!!!!!!!!!

Not very exciting....

...but it is a window :)

ps. the hanging beads are to keep us from hitting the window when we walk around the corner of the building...slight design flaw.
